Strategies to Accelerate the Reduction of MMR

The health development which is now entering the period of the Second Long Term Development Plan, is still marked by the high MMR, i. e. 421/100,000 livebirths (LB) in 1992. This figure is around 3-6 times the MMR of ASEAN countries and more than 50 times the MMR of developed countries. Thus, effort to reduce MMR and to improve the health status of mothers, is still one of the main priorities in the Second Long Term Development Plain in the health sector. This will support the effort to improve the quality of human resources from the first stage of life.
